If you are here reading this, this is the first step when it comes to creating a healthy lifestyle! You are actively looking for tools and are researching steps others have already used to succeed.
ANYONE can create a healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t matter what size you are, how old you are, where you live, what you do for a living, or how many kids you have.
And… more importantly… everyone NEEDS to create a healthy lifestyle if they want to feel their best every day. Especially, if you want to be able to serve other people you love in your life. If you don’t love yourself and/or don’t feel well regularly, it is hard to help and truly love others around you.
- I do want to note that BEFORE you take any of the advice I give below that you look within yourself. Make sure YOU want to create a healthy lifestyle for yourself. Not for anyone else. That is absolutely key.
- Secondly, I highly recommend that you work on your inner self during this transition process. Click here to access my library of personal development articles.
The Beginner’s Guide: How to Create a Healthy Lifestyle
You need to understand the meaning behind “lifestyle”.
Sometimes, I feel like people just throw that word around without truly understanding what it means. When you live a certain lifestyle, you do it every dang day. It isn’t something you “do” only on weekdays, before dinner time, two days a week, on weekends, or one week every month or so.
A “lifestyle” is the style of life that you living! It makes up who you are and the actions that you take every day. Living a lifestyle rids of the “I will start this Monday” disease that so many of us have on the regular.
Hey, I have been there! I was not born living the way I do or understanding the things that now make up who I truly am at the core. It took hard work, dedication, reading and listening, but… most importantly… it took CONSISTENCY!
To create a healthy lifestyle, it requires you to repeat, repeat, repeat. Not only that, but it requires you to constantly be open to new ideas and findings that could potentially help you up-level your life even further!
You need to Invest in Yourself
Think of it this way. Take a doctor, for instance. It is so important that doctors constantly educate themselves way after their schooling is over. There is always new research being done, new cures being found, and old research being disproved. That doctor needs to be open to changing the flow charts they follow and the ways they look at curing their patients.
Just like a doctor’s job is important their patients, YOU are the most important person to yourself. Therefore, to create a healthy lifestyle, it requires you to INVEST IN YOURSELF! That doesn’t mean just spending money to develop your lifestyle, but investing TIME to truly understand components you are adding to (or taking away) from how you live your life.
If you want to live a truly beneficial and healthy lifestyle, once and for all, you need to immerse yourself in it one step at a time, be open to listening to new findings, and adapt your life to best fuel your mind and body.
You will FEEL AMAZING and will radiate that onto others in your life. In turn, helping not only yourself live an energized and fulfilling life. But, you will also help those you love also up-level their own lives just by radiating a positive energy towards them and by modeling a healthy lifestyle through the choices you make each day.
You need a Sustainable, Realistic Diet
Let’s chat about what I mean by “diet”. I DO NOT believe in dieting. Never have and never will. They do not work and are not sustainable. Even if you go on a “diet,” lose 30lb pounds… once you go back to the way you were eating and/or moving before… the weight will creep back on. Just plain science.
When I talk about a diet, I am talking about the way you choose to eat every day, on the regular. You don’t have to constantly track, measure foods, starve yourself, eat certain colors, fill in 6,785 measured tupperwear, etc. You get it. I am talking about diets that have a definitive amount of time. 30 days, 90 days, one week, etc.
The diet you need to figure out and create is the one you stick to every day of your life. To create a healthy lifestyle, you need to find one that satisfies you, tastes good, keeps you full, and (most importantly) makes you feel good! Personally, I have adapted my life to fit a semi keto-based diet. For me, carbs don’t make me feel good and fats help me feel full (and helped me shed my baby weight!).
I plan to eat this way indefinitely, adapting it as I read research about healthier ways of eating that could potentially benefit my body. I don’t obsess over Keto diet principals. I make up my own rules. I do what feels best for me. That is what YOU need to find! Create a healthy lifestyle by finding a diet that makes you feel good and one that doesn’t make you feel bad about food or about yourself.

You Need a Sustainable, Realistic Workout Plan
Just like you need to find a diet that works for you, you also need to find a way to exercise that is realistic if you want to create a healthy lifestyle. One that you will stick to week after week, month after month. If you find yourself DREADING a workout, you need to stop doing it.
It is like having a job that you hate. You know, the one that gives you the Sunday scaries? If you truly don’t like a job you will not put in a lot of effort. You will find yourself doing the absolute bare-minimum to get a paycheck and will come home emotionally exhausted each day. Dread becomes a normal feeling.
What works is finding a job that fills your tank up with passion. One you get excited to go to, work hard to make it to the next level, and one that gives you something in return. THAT is what you need to find in your workouts to create a healthy lifestyle! You need to be excited for it and crave how you will feel afterwards.
For me? That is 30 minute lifting heavy 4 days a week, one cardio day, and hitting 12k+ steps a day. I have found that 30 minute heavy lifting workouts are great because they are fast and get me home in time to see my baby. I don’t like to run, so one day of cardio is just fine. I might not get excited about it, but I know I can get through it. Also, I LOVE walking around my neighborhood with my family. So, all of these fit into the lifestyle I want to live.
Now, what I wrote might seem boring and might not motivate you. That is fine! In fact, that is normal. There are so many different ways to move your body. You have to experiment and see what works for you. You might be interested in yoga, pilates, zumba, rock climbing, biking, distance running, workout videos, sports, etc. The choices are endless.
You Need Tools To Guide You
If you are struggling to create a healthy lifestyle, you most definitely will need some tools to help keep you accountable and on track. I have been successful at living a healthy lifestyle and I STILL use tools daily to keep me motivated and inspired.
What tools am I talking about? Checklists, charts, guidelines, and plans. A construction worker can’t build a house without tools. I am here to tell you that you will not be successful at living a healthy lifestyle if you don’t find the tools that work for you.
