There are an incredible amount of maternity clothing options out there right now! It’s a bit overwhelming, don’t you think? Really, you don’t need about 98% of it.
Hey… if you have the extra cash + space in your house, have at it! But, I didn’t want to spend more than I had to during both pregnancies + our house is small. So, I shopped around + tried things out [+ returned a lot] until I found what I REALLY needed for everyday wear.
Scroll below to see a description to each of my favorite maternity clothes that I used for all 3 trimesters! Really, they’re all you need.
1 | TANK TOPS
I think I have 15 of these. Yep… 15. They’re that good! At $9.99, I just kept buying them in every color. They’re perfect because you can wear them for working out, under cardigans for work, with a zip-up sweatshirt, under sweatshirts, + simply as a tank top. They’re so versatile. They also fit while you’re not pregnant because they’re so stretchy + don’t have ruching on the sides.
2 | JEAN SHORTS
I bought these for our Disney trip this pregnancy when I was 4 months pregnant + absolutely love them. They’re so cheap + really don’t feel like it. I love them because the belly band is really comfortable + they’re not too short. Perfect if you are going to be pregnant in warmer months!
3 | BELLY BAND
I have 2 of these, one in black + one in white. But, they also have a few other nude colors. Because of these genius maternity bands, I didn’t EVER have to by maternity jeans. They’re so expensive + when I tried them none of them fit me great. What I did do is buy really stretchy jeggings from AE/Old Navy + sized up 1 size to fit me as I gained a little weight. I used them postpartum for a few months before I lost the baby weight!
4 | T-SHIRTS
Just like the tank tops, I have soooo many of these. They’re $12.99 each + are so versatile with various outfits whether you have to go to work, out to dinner, or if you just want a casual outfit to lounge in. They also fit after pregnancy because there isn’t any ruching!
5 | BANDEAU SWIM TOP
Need a swimsuit? I stuck to my normal bottoms + just bought this maternity bandeau swim top to fit over my growing belly. I didn’t want to expose my belly to the sun + really would rather cover it up + be a little more conservative. This simple buy did the trick! Great if you are taking another kid to swim class, you’re at the beach, at the pool, or are going on a baby moon somewhere warm.
